Levy Design Partners renovated and expanded an existing, historically significant elementary school with the addition of a new 15,000 sq. ft. middle school complex to create the first Chinese language immersion school in the country. This $4 million project involved designing three new buildings and renovating the existing school building. The school district wanted to give the middle school a separate identity while preserving a strong link between the elementary and middle school populations. By combining educational spaces along a central ‘village street’ the plan creates unique environments for the students while unifying the school community around common areas and themes. Awarded the 2002 C.A.S.H./AIACC Leroy F. Greene Award of Excellence.
